Berries are the fruits of wild-grown berry bushes that are found in all biomes except arctic and desert. They do not grow well in high temperatures, and lays dormant during the winter. The berries remain fresh for a short period of time and provides fruit satiety when consumed. There are a variety of different berries that can be found. The bush requires no maintenance and continuously grows new fruit to be harvested.
Obtaining
Berries are found as wild-growing berry bushes in the environment. Harvest with to collect ripe fruit. Fully mature bushes yield multiple berries when harvested, and will continue to produce berries as long as it is not winter and the temperature is below 30°c.
Usage
- Can be consumed without cooking. All berries provide 80 satiety when eaten, except for cranberries which provide 60 satiety.
- Used as an optional ingredient for cooking porridge and meat stew.
- Used as the main ingredient for jam when paired with honey .
- Juiced in a fruit press , and berry juice can further fermented and distilled into alcohol . Fermented berry juices produce berry wines, and can be distilled into berry brandy.
- Used to produce dyes . Blueberries and black currants are used to create purple dye, while cranberries are used to make pink dye.
Habitat
Berry bushes can be found in nearly all biomes, except for the extreme arctic or desert biomes. Red currant, black currant and white currant bushes can be found in temperate biomes, while cranberries and blueberries can be found in colder biomes. Blueberries tend to spawn in forest areas.
Berry bushes cannot be propagated, grown, or farmed but they can be collected with a knife or an empty hand and replanted on soil blocks.
Growth
The fertility of the soil they are placed on has no impact on the bush's ability to grow and produce berries. Berry bushes go through three stages of growth: empty, flowering, and ripe. It takes between 8 to 9.6 days to go from empty to flowering, and 8 to 9.6 days to go from flowering to ripe. Once the berries are ripe, if the player has not harvested the fruit, the bush will reset back to empty after 32 to 38.4 days. Berry bushes only ripen in spring, summer and autumn. During the winter, berry bushes will not ripen, even with a greenhouse .
If the temperature reaches 35°c it will revert to the start of its current growth stage and losing progress to the next one. If it reaches 38°c then the bush resets entirely to the empty stage.
The crop growth rate configuration will only affect the flowering and ripening stages. The time a bush resets is unaffected by crop growth rate configuration
Notes
- Berries may also be sold by the agricultural trader .
- Berry bushes can be broken with the with a bare hand. You can transport them in your inventory and plant them near your house.
- Berry bushes can be planted with on any type of soil, gravel or sand.

- You do not need to till the soil with a hoe to plant berry bushes.
- Berry bushes do not require watering.
- Berry bushes can be placed in Greenhouses to benefit from the 5°C bonus[1].
- Cranberries provide less satiety than other berries, but have double the fresh time than others.
- Berry bushes can be trimmed with shears with . After harvesting the berries, the berry bush will return to its original look and you will need to trim it again if you want to maintain its trimmed look.
