Onions are a source of food as well as dyes.

Obtaining

Onions can be found growing in the world. Onions seeds can also be found in cracked vessels .

Cultivation

Mature onions

Onions can withstand temperatures between -1 and 40°C but can only grow if the temperatures are positive. They require 1.85 months (16.7 days) to grow at default 9 day per month settings, and go through 7 growth stages. Onions use up 35% P nutrition (Phosphorus) from their farm plot. Break the crop using left mouse button with an empty hand, a knife or a scythe to harvest. When fully mature, crops yield multiple onions and at least one seed when harvested. Harvesting immature plants yields fewer onions and may not provide a seed.

Usage

Food

Onions provide 100 vegetable satiety when eaten raw. Onions count as a vegetable for cooking and can be used in meat stew, vegetable stew, soups and porridges. They stay fresh 28 days if you keep them in your inventory. After that, it takes 5 days for them to turn into rot . A full stack of 64 onions will turn into 32 rot. Onions are preserved longer when stored in a storage vessel in a cellar . They can be further preserved through pickling .

Dye

Onions are also used in dye making to create yellow dye and orange dye.
