Note:
- Damage tier: 2.
- Their seeking range is 14.
- The drop values above are for adults. Kids give only 1 - 3* red meat and 0.5 - 1.5* raw hide (small) when harvested.
- The run speed of kids is 0.04.
- The swim speed of kids is 0.03.
Behavior
- Adult females try to stay near a male, and kids try to stay near a female.
- Goats eat unprotected player-planted crops.
Trapping
- Wild kids and kids below generation 5 can be captured in a reed basket trap , with bait such as dry grass or grain.
- Kids of at least generation 5 can be transported in a reed chest .
- Other methods can be employed, such as chasing a kid into a pit or fenced enclosure. Because kids are coded to stay near adult females, trapping a nanny goat can help you to also trap nearby kids.
Domestication
See Animal Husbandry for an overview of raising livestock.
- Female goats will require a male goat to get pregnant in the enclosure.
- They will also need to have eaten 10 portions of food from a large trough.
- Their pregnancy will last for 20 days.
- They can give birth only to 1 kid at the same time.
- There is 4 to 11 days between pregnancies.
- After the birth of their kid, female goats can be milked if they are sufficiently domesticated.
- It will take 336 hours (14 days) for the kid to become an adult.
- You can use to pet goats when they are generation 1 or higher. Petting causes the animal to stand peacefully.
Food
Goats like to eat:
- Dry grass
- Vegetables (except parsnips)
- Grain (except rice)
- Fruit mash
Harvesting
- Goats do not drop any bones. Harvested corpses leave behind bony carcasses, which the player can break to obtain bones.
- Unharvested goat corpses decay into bony carcasses after 4 days.
- If an adult male has horns when killed, the horns can be harvested from its corpse.
Horns
- Adult male goats (including ox) grow horns over the course of 12 months.
- They do not shed horns annually.
History
- Goats were added in version 1.19.0-rc.1.[1]
- Milking and multiply behavior was added later.
