Purchasing
You can purchase axes from Survival Goods Traders . They sell them sometimes:
- Tin-bronze axe: for an average price of 9 rusty gears .
- Bismuth-bronze axe: for an average price of 10 rusty gears .
- Black bronze axe: for an average price of 11 rusty gears .
Usage
The axe is most efficient when used to break wood blocks such as trees , logs, planks , fences, gates and items including wooden building components.
Harvesting
Breaking a tree with an axe will break many blocks at once. The targeted block will take a long time to break and when it does break, the tree will break with it. The max number of blocks it breaks is limited by the remaining durability of the axe. Cutting the whole tree at once still applies the same amount of damage to the axe as if each block was broken individually.
Tree felling time is also based on wood type; hardwoods take 30% longer; tropical hardwoods longer still.
Purpleheart requires at least a copper/scrap axe to fell; ebony requires at least a bronze axe.
Protip:
Cutting the whole tree is much faster if you break all the leaves first! This also drops many more tree seeds and sticks. |
Crafting
Firewood is crafted using the axe. When the axe is being used as a crafting tool, each time the recipe is crafted the tool will lose durability.
Selling
You can sell the axes you craft to Building Materials Traders . They purchase sometimes:
- Tin-bronze axe: for an average price of 4 rusty gears .
- Bismuth-bronze axe: for an average price of 5 rusty gears .
- Black bronze axe: for an average price of 6 rusty gears .
Storage
Axes can be placed against a wall, stored in containers and placed on tool racks .
