Fat is one of the products a player can obtain when harvesting animals using a knife.
Obtaining
Fat is one of the most common resources gathered from dead animals. Animal sources that may provide fat are pigs, sheep, foxes, wolves and hyenas.
Food Traders may sell 3 fat for 1 to 3 gears.
Usage
Fat can be used in various means, for instance in crafting of mechanical components, to seal crocks for longer food storage, or even as an early game or emergency fuel or food source.
Fuel
Fat is flammable and can be used as fuel that last 96 seconds.
Crafting
Fat is required to craft oil hides that can be processed into pelts, as well as oil lamps - an early game permanent lighting. It is also used for sealing crocks, allowing stored meals to last longer.
It is required for making a variety of mechanization devices, as well as making the Longbow.
