Creation
Hides can be looted from wild or domesticated animals upon death. The following animals have a chance to drop hides:
- Small Hides: Hare, Raccoon, Fox, Lamb
- Medium Hides: Wild Pig, Hyena, Wolf
- Large Hides: Bighorn Sheep
- Huge Hides: Bear
Of these wild animals, only the pig and sheep can be domesticated and used as a continual source of hides.
Detailed information on the domestication of wild animals can be found on the Animal Husbandry page.
Players create leather from raw hides through the process of leather working using the barrel crafting mechanic. One small hide produces one piece of leather, one medium hide produces two pieces of leather, one large hide produces three pieces of leather, and one huge hide produces 5 pieces of leather.
Detailed information on the method to produce leather can be found on the Leather Working page.
