Support beams are thin connection beams that can be placed on any block surface with 5x5 snap points and come in all wood flavors. Due to current hitbox limitations beams can currently only be broken by breaking at the end point.

Creation

Support beams are crafted using a saw and a debarked log .

Usage

Support beams can be used the following ways:

  • As a way to reinforce the stability of the ceiling in caves (if the cave-ins have been activated in your game settings, by default they are deactivated).
  • As a decorative wooden block for structures.
  • As fuel.

Placing a support beam

  • Place the support beams in your active hand.
  •   to place the starting point.
  •   again to place the ending point.

You might require several support beams if the 2 points are several blocks away from each other. One support beam per block is required.

Removing a support beam

  • Select an empty slot in your toolbar.
  • Look at the 2 ends of the support beam. One of them displays a tooltip at the top of the screen "Support beam (wood type)". Aim for that end with your mouse.
  • Maintain the   on the support beam to break it.

By removing a beam, you will be able to retrieve all the support beams that were used to create the beam.

Storage

Support beams stack to 32 and can be transported in the player's inventory and stored in stationary containers.
