Firewood is an essential material when you start the game, since it will allow you to build a firepit , which means heat, light and cooking. It is also an important item later since it is the ingredient to make charcoal .
Creation
Players can obtain firewood by splitting a log with an axe in the Crafting Grid .
Harvest
Firewood can be also acquire from chopping down Fern Trees .
Usage
Firewood can be used to:
- Build a firepit .
- Warm the player when it is cold or cook meals by using it in the firepit as fuel .
- Create charcoal. See the charcoal page for more information on creating a charcoal pit.

Firewood is used to craft the following pieces of armor:
Storage
Firewood may be stored in stacks on a solid block. Multiple stacks of firewood can be placed on top of each other.
Stacking Firewood
To place the firewood:
- Place it on the top of a solid block to start a stack.
- Each click will add two pieces of firewood, holding the sprint key will add 8 at a time.
- A stack can hold 32 firewood. When it is full, continuing to add to it will create another stack above the selected stack.
To remove firewood:
- Firewood can be removed by clicking on it. Holding the sprint key will remove 8 at a time. If there is a stack above the selected stack the wood will be removed from that.
