Hides are untreated animal skins.
Obtaining
Raw hides can be looted from wild or domesticated animals upon death. The following animals have a chance to drop hides:
- Small hides: adult hare , adult raccoon , adult fox , lamb , goat kid , deer fawn , and some adult species of deer.
- Medium hides: adult pig , hyena , adult wolf
- Large hides: adult bighorn sheep , adult gazelle
- Huge hides: Bear
Usage
A few crafting recipes use raw hides:
- warm robe
- rawhide mantle
- rawhide trousers
Oiled hide
Curing hides with fat creates pelts that can be used in recipes for
- lamellar armor
- fur coat
- knee-high fur boots
- fur gloves
- fur lined reindeer herder shoes
- reindeer herder fur coat
- hunter backpack which adds 5 inventory slots
- longbow
Soaked hide
Soaking and tanning raw hides creates leather that can be used in recipes for
- leather backpack
- several types of armor
- a few clothing items
- sling
- books
- dyed leather
- glider
- bows
- leather reinforced wooden shield
- antler mount
