Creazione
I materiali grezzi usato per creare la testa dell'attrezzo determinano il processo di lavorazione richiesto:
- Fusione (100 unità): Rame e lega di bronzo
- Forgiatura (1 lingotto): Testa dell'attrezzo creata dai metalli mostrati nella tabella (sotto).

La piccozza ha due modalità, Rricerca Densità e Ricerca Vena. La modalità Ricerca Densintà permette ai giocatori di campionare tre blocchi di roccia entro 4 blocchi l'uno dall'altro ritornando la probabilità di minerali in quel chunk del mondo. La probabilità è data in ‰, parti-per-migliaia, per ogni tipo di minerale. La modalità Ricerca Densità è utile nel dire al giocatore quali minerali potrà trovare all'interno del chunk, ma non dice esattamente al giocatore dove sono i minerali, neanche la grandezza o la quantità.
- Density Search mode allows players to sample three rock blocks within 4 blocks of each other to return the probability of ores in that chunk of the world. The probability is returned in ‰, parts-per-thousand, for each ore type. Density Search mode is useful in telling players what ores to expect to find within a given chunk, but does not tell players exactly where the ore may be, nor its potential size or quality.

I blocchi rotti dalla piccozza non rilasciano nessun materiale.
Defferenza tra le varie modalità
La modalità Ricerca Densità dice ai giocatori la probabilità di trovare minerali, mentre la modalità Ricervca Vena dice ai giocatori dove è esattamente individuato il deposito di minerale. Inoltre, la modalitò Ricerca Densità non dice al giocatore circa la presenza di certi minerali come oro o argento, che sono trovati dentro ai depositi di altri mineralli. La modalità Ricerca Vena informa i giocatori circa il figlo dei depositi di minerale.
Immagazzinamento
Gli attrezzi sono oggetti comuni usati dai giocatori e sono generalemnte equipaggiati nella barra. Fino a quattro attrezzi possono essere messi nel porta attrezzi, un contenitore di stoccaggio a parete specializzato. Le piccozze non si accatastano nell'inventario o quando messi nei contenitori.
The prospecting pick can be placed against a wall, stored in containers and placed on tool racks.
