'''Brick blocks''' can be separated into 3 categories, firstly the simple mudbrick blocks, crafted from {{ll|soil|soil}}, {{ll|clay|clay}}, {{ll|dry grass|dry rass}} and {{ll|sand|sand}}, secondly the regular brick blocks, constructed using {{ll|clay|clay}} and {{ll|mortar|mortar}} and finally the more complex refractory bricks, constructed from {{ll|clay|clay}}, {{ll|quartz|quartz}}, {{ll|bauxite|bauxite}}, {{ll|olivine|olivine}} and {{ll|ilmenite|ilmenite}}.
'''Thatch''' is an item that is harvested from {{ll|tule|tule}} plants. Thatch is used for crafting {{ll|Roofing_blocks|roofing blocks}}.

== Creation ==
== Obtaining ==

There are three types of brick blocks players can craft: mudbrick, brick, and refractory brick. All of these types of blocks are created using the crafting grid.

=== Looting ===

Some clay brick blocks can be looted in {{ll|ruins|ruins}}. The lit version of the chimney, which '''emits smoke''', can be only be found in ruins.

=== Mudbrick blocks ===

There are two mudbrick blocks available: light mudbrick, which requires {{ll|soil|soil}}, {{ll|clay|clay}}, {{ll|dry grass|dry rass}} and {{ll|sand|sand}} to create, and dark mudbrick, which requires {{ll|soil|soil}}, {{ll|clay|clay}} and {{ll|dry grass|dry rass}} to create.
*'''Block shapes''': A slab version is available, but only for the dark mudbrick.
*'''Material variant''': Almost any {{ll|clay|clay}}, {{ll|soil|soil}} and {{ll|sand|sand}} variant can be used to craft these blocks.
*'''Appearance''': The type of materials used in crafting does not affect the appearance of the block.

=== Clay brick blocks ===

Clay brick blocks require single bricks and {{ll|mortar|mortar}} to create. They are available in 4 colors: blue, brown, red, and light brown (fire clay).
*'''Block Shapes''': Full blocks, slabs (half blocks), stairs and chimneys can be created - crafted chimneys are the unlit version.
*'''Material Variant''': Any {{ll|clay|clay}} variant can be used to craft these blocks.
*'''Appearance''': The type of clay used in crafting affects the appearance of the block.

Brown clay and red clay cannot be crafted in Survival mode at the moment. Only blue clay and fire clay blocks can be crafted.

=== Mixed drystone blocks === <!--T:178-->

<!--T:179-->
Mixed drystone blocks are a fancy and multicolored variant of the drystone blocks, introduced in v1.15.
*'''Block Shapes''': Full blocks and {{ll|fence|fences}} can be created.
*'''Material Variant''': 8 different {{ll|rock|small stones}} are required, as well as a {{ll|Stone_Blocks|brick}} (replaced by a {{ll|board|board}} of any type for the fence). For the recipe to be validated, those 8 small stones must be placed each in a precise slot of the crafting grid. Phyllite stone is probably the most difficult stone to reach, because phyllite layers lay deep underground.

====Crafting==== <!--T:180-->

<!--T:181-->
Blocks must be assembled in the crafting grid as shown below.

These drop thatch. Thatch roofing can be made from thatch or dry grass in this version; in the future thatch roofing may be craftable from thatch only."</ref>. Thatch can be harvested by breaking the top of the tule plants. If the tops are harvested using an equipped {{ll|knife|knife}} or a {{ll|scythe|scythe}}, they will regrow. Harvesting with an tool is also faster. Each plant harvested gives 1 thatch.

Polished rocks blocks require a {{ll|hammer|hammer}}, a {{ll|chisel|chisel}}, and a {{ll|rock|rock}} to create.
*'''Block Shapes''': Full blocks and slabs can be created. Polished stone stairs cannot be created.

=== Ashlar blocks === <!--T:115-->

<!--T:10-->
Ashlar blocks<ref>Before version {{ll|1.19.0#Visual_Fine_Tuning|1.19}}, "ashlar" was named "stone brick".</ref> require {{ll|rock|rock}}, {{ll|mortar|mortar}}, a {{ll|hammer|hammer}}, and a {{ll|chisel|chisel}} to create.
*'''Block shapes''': Three variants can be created, ashlar blocks, ashlar block slabs (half-block), and ashlar block stairs.
*'''Material variant''': Almost any {{ll|rock|rock}} variant can be used to craft these blocks.
*'''Appearance''': The type of materials used in crafting affects the appearance of the block.

<!--T:11-->
Ashlar blocks are crafted in two stages, single ashlar blocks are crafted and then assembled with mortar to form blocks.

Thatch is an item that is harvested from tule plants. Thatch is used for crafting roofing blocks .

Obtaining

Tule-in-the-world.png

Tule grows beside lakes (usually spawning in different places from Cattails, more common around high altitude lakes)[1]. Thatch can be harvested by breaking the top of the tule plants. If the tops are harvested using an equipped knife or a scythe , they will regrow. Harvesting with an tool is also faster. Each plant harvested gives 1 thatch.

Usage

Thatch is used for crafting 5 types of thatch roofing blocks .

References

  1. Vintage Story version 1.19.0 notes - "Feature: Added new Tule plant beside lakes (usually spawning in different places from Cattails, more common around high altitude lakes). These drop thatch. Thatch roofing can be made from thatch or dry grass in this version; in the future thatch roofing may be craftable from thatch only."
