Zinc is a metal. Its main use is to create alloys such as bismuth bronze and brass .
Obtaining
Zinc's ore is called sphalerite, and can be found at relatively shallow depths. Sphalerite cannot spawn on the surface. Sphalerite deposits may be found in nearly any rock layer except for bauxite.
Usage
On its own, zinc ingots can be smelted into zinc plates, for use in Archimedes screws .
Alloys
Sphalerite nuggets can be mixed with various metals in a crucible to be smelted into ingots of various alloys.
Alloy | Smelting temperature | Zinc % | Other metal % | Other metal % |
---|---|---|---|---|
Bismuth bronze | 850°C | Zinc 20-30% | Rame 50-70% | Bismuth 10-20% |
Brass | 920°C | Zinc 30-40% | Rame 60-70% | - |
