Lightning is a new weather phenomenon introduced in version 1.17.0.
Occurence
Lightning strikes can happen during storms. Lightning strikes damage all creatures in an eight-block radius of the strike.
Lightning strikes can be redirected towards lightning rods to avoid them striking the player or any domesticated animals.
