Fruits are edible plants in Vintage Story that can often be farmed as a renewable source of food. Most fruits are found on fruit trees, with the exception of the pineapple which is grown similarly to other crops, and the saguaro fruit or cactus fruit that can be found growing wild similarly to berries.

Obtaining

Fruits can be found growing wild in different biomes. Fruits from a fruit tree can be harvested by right-clicking a fruit-bearing leaf block. Pineapples are harvested by breaking a fully-grown pineapple crop, which can be either farmed or found wild in warm or hot biomes. Saguaro fruit can be harvested from a fully-grown cactus block with no tool, or harvested with a knife. Only saguaro fruit harvested with a knife will regrow.

Fruits from fruit trees can be grown from cuttings, while pineapples can be grown from pineapple seeds.

Unlike most other crops, fruits and fruit tree cuttings or seeds cannot be bought via trading or from cracked vessels.

Usage

Most fruits can be consumed raw for fruit satiety. They may also be used in a cooking pot to create meals such as porridge, meat stew, or jam. They cannot currently be preserved, beyond cooking them into jam. Fruits can also be pressed in a fruit press to produce juice, which can be further fermented into alcohol via the process of alcohol brewing. Fruit can also be used as the filling for fruit pie.
