- Grain may be eaten without cooking. Rice provides the most satiety, while flax provides the least.
- Grain may be cooked to create a meal that gives higher satiety and pauses hunger. Porridge requires at least 2 matching grain items, in a cooking pot.
- Grain may be ground in a quern to make flour.
- Flour may be crafted with water to create dough, which may be baked into bread or pies using a clay oven.
- Most types of flour may be fermented to make ale, and further distilled to make whisky. Twice-distilled alcohol may be used to craft alcohol-soaked bandages, for significant healing.
