Cattails are a very important early game item. Catttail tops can be used to craft hand baskets to increase your inventory, as well as stationary baskets that can be placed and used as item storage.

Cooper's reed (a.k.a. Cattails) are a very important early game item for making [[Crafting_Recipes#Stationary Containers|containers]], rope, and [[Beekeeping|skeps]]. They have two potential drops which include cattails tops and cattail roots.


To harvest reeds you can break them with your hands, although this destroys the roots. To preserve the roots and allow multiple harvests use a [[Knife|knife]]. By breaking the roots you can get then cook them to make them edible in a pinch. You can also replant the roots, useful for making a cattail farm or for decoration.
