Rusty gears are the in-game currency of Vintage Story. It is mainly used for trading, either with traders or with other players in a multiplayer game.
Rusty gears can also be used to create black dye.
Looting
They can be found in Ruins, inside chests or cracked vessels, or in the ground.
Storage
Rusty Gears can stack to 1000. While they can be placed on the ground, it is preferable to put them in storage such as chest or crates.
