Rot is the result of food decay and may be removed from [[containers#Meal_Containers|meal containers]] by throwing them in water.

Compost has a maximum nutrient level of 65% and thus is the best alternative for farming if [[Terra Preta]] cannot be readily obtained.<br>

It can be converted to farmland using a [[hoe]]. For more information, see the [[Farming|farming guide]].

However, farmland blocks cannot be picked up and replaced once converted. Breaking farmland destroys the block.

Compost blocks can be transported in the player inventory, stored in [[containers#stationary|containers]], or placed in the world.
