'''Meat''' is a type of food item that is obtained by hunting animals in Vintage Story. Meats generally must be [[Cooking|cooked]] or process before they can be consumed. They grant protein [[satiety]] when eaten.

There are four types of meat that can be obtained in Vintage Story.

All meats can be cooked in a [[firepit]] to create cooked meat, which can be eaten for protein satiety. Notably, this is the only way that bush meat can be cooked.

Red meat, poultry and fish can also be used as part of cooking recipes to create [[meat stew]], or as an optional ingredient in [[soup]]. Red meat and poultry can also be used for creating [[Pie|meat pie]].

All four kinds of meat can be combined with [[salt]] in a [[barrel]] to create [[cured meat]], which is a way to [[Food preservation|preserve]] it.
