| Cooper's reed (a.k.a. Cattails) are a very important early game item for making [[Crafting_Recipes#Stationary Containers|containers]], rope, and [[Beekeeping|skeps]]. They have two potential drops which include cattails tops and cattail roots.

| To harvest the reeds you can break them with your hands, although this destroys the roots. To preserve the roots and allow multiple harvests use a [[Knife|knife]]. By breaking the roots you can get then cook them to make them edible in a pinch. You can also replant the roots, useful for making a cattail farm or for decoration.
