Use
This tool is most efficient when used to harvest or process wood blocks such as trees, logs, planks, fences, gates and items including wooden building components.
Harvesting
To harvest a material: place the tool in an active hotbar slot and press or hold left mouse button until the block breaks and the block or resource drops. When chopping a tree, aim the crosshairs at the lowest block to harvest the entire tree.
Combat
- Attacking a mob (melee combat): place the tool in an active hotbar slot and press or hold left mouse button to strike the target.
- Attacking a mob (ranged combat): place the tool in an active hotbar slot and press right mouse button to cast the weapon at the target. Currently, all axes have a range of 2 meters.
Grid Crafting
The axe is used to craft firewood (grid crafting). Place the axe in the grid crafting slot above the log. Removing the firewood (product) from the output slot of the grid uses the tool. When complete, remove the tool from the grid, or close the interface by pressing 'E' to replace the tool into the inventory or hotbar.
Storage
Tools are items commonly used by players and are generally equipped in the hotbar. Axes do not stack in inventory or when placed in containers. The tool rack is a specialized wall mounted storage container that allows players to store tools. Tool racks are made of 6 sticks in the drafting grid and once placed, can store 4 tools each. Tools are placed from an active hotbar slot and removed using the right mouse button to an empty space in the hotbar.
