Players create leather from raw hides through the process of leather working using the barrel crafting mechanic.
Hides can be looted from wild or domesticated animals upon death. The following animals have a chance to drop hides:

* Small Hides: Hare, Raccoon, Fox, Lamb
*Medium Hides: Wild Pig, Hyena, Wolf
*Large Hides: Bighorn Sheep

Of these wild animals, only the wild pig and sheep can be domesticated and used as a source of hide.

Detailed information on the domestication of wild animals can be found here: Animal Husbandry
