Each block of mature onion crops will yield 10-14 onions and 1-2 seed packets.  Harvesting at stage 6 will yield 2-4 onions, with a 99% chance of getting 1 seed packet.  Harvesting before stage 6 has a 0% chance of getting any onions, and a 70% chance of getting 1 seed packet.

Onions provide 100 vegetable {{ll|satiety|satiety}} when eaten raw. Onions count as a vegetable for {{ll|cooking|cooking}} and can be used in meat stew, vegetable stew, soups and porridges. They stay fresh 28 days if you keep them in your inventory. After that, it takes 5 days for them to turn into {{ll|rot|rot}}. A full stack of 64 onions will turn into 32 rot. Onions are preserved longer when stored in a {{ll|storage vessel|storage vessel}} in a {{ll|cellar|cellar}}. They can be further preserved through {{ll|Food preservation#Pickling|pickling}}.
