Tobias' Cave is one of the main story event locations. It is the home of Tobias, an old man who helped found Nadiya Village, and a friend of Jonas. The entire cave system is claimed, so players cannot open chests, barrels, or pickup objects on display.

Directions

Tobias's Cave generates extremely far from the spawn region, but usually within a couple thousand coordinates of Nadiya. A Villager in Nadiya will give you a map marking the location of the cave on your map.

Preparation

Before heading to Tobias's Cave, do make sure to have the Lens from the Devastation, as the majority of Tobias's dialogue is locked behind retrieving it. There is no penalty going to him before obtaining the Lens, however you will have to repeat your journey.

Entrance

The natural portion of Tobias' Cave

Tobias' Cave can only be entered through a small water-filled cave that leads to a large chamber with three doors. The largest lead to the main area of the Cave, the one to the right leads to the translocator room, and the left leads to his cellar. Glowing alchemical symbols can be seen in the natural cave leading you to the doors.

Main Room

The Main Room of the Cave is a library filled with various machines, potted flowers, books, and paintings.

Tobias walks through the main area to different stations doing various idle working animations.

Tobias's Bell

A small passive Bell idles around the main room.

Workshop

There is a workshop in the back with an inoperable Eidolon blocking a door to a room with machinery.

Cellar

The cellar contains barrels and crocks of stews and jams. They cannot be interacted with because of the area claims.

Translocator Room

Located to the right of the main doors, the translocator room contains the Rickety Translocator. Building one of your own will teleport you to it, similarly to the translocators found in ruins.

Notes

  • Be careful to have open inventory slots for the items Tobias gives you. If your inventory is full, either one will be dropped on the floor.
  • If enough time has passed, the some of the crocks in the cellar will be filled with Rot.
