Regular surface whereabouts

Overview

The Surface level is defined as the blocks that will be affected by rain.

Height

Height varies depending on the distance between the Mantle and the Surface.

Height Values

When talking about generation and mechanics, the game will calculate its values following this criteria:

  • The Mantle will have a height of 0.
  • The Surface will have a height of 1.

Ore Deposits

Deposits will generate between the mantle and the surface. The values for its generation can be seen in Ore Deposits. It's important to remember the values 0 and 1 when looking for Ore Deposits.

Example: Lignite (Brown Coal) is generated between the height values 0.48 and 0.92, this mean that, if the distance between the Mantle and the Surface is 100 blocks, Lignite (Brown Coal) will be generated between y48 and y92 (based on coordinates).

Resources

Ores

Some ores just as Lead, Copper, Coal, Borax or Quartz can be spotted as bits in the surface. This will mean an ore deposite is bellow those blocks.

Hills will expose ore deposites as well due to the nature of ore generation based on height.

Foraging

Animals

In order to survive, animals need light. A hare that ventures into a cave will die after a while if no light is present.

Farming

Unless defined on World Configuration, plants can't grow underground, and they will only grow if direct sunlight is provided.
