Shield

A shield is an item used for defense, it only works when used in your offhand and is more effective if used while crouching.

Shields

Crude Square Shield

This is a basic shield with little durability and lesser absorption than the advanced shield types.

Reinforced Round Shield

This shield gives a lot more damage reduction then the Crude Shield, but requires more advanced materials.

Reinforced Round Shield (with plain or coloured leather)

Adding leather to the Reinforced Shield will give it more durability. There is an alternative version using black and orange coloured leather instead of plain leather for a different look, however the stats remain the same. Disregarding the Blackguard exclusive shield, this is the best option that can be crafted regardless of player class.

Blackguard Square Shield

This is the best shield in the game that can only be crafted by players with the Blackguard class, unless class exclusive recipes are disabled on world creation or through world configuration.

Storage

Shields are usually put in the hotbar when carried. Shields can be placed on an armor stand, tool rack and tool mold rack.
