Peat is a terrain block variant created during world generation. The grass coverage (grass variant) indicates the climate conditions in the area.

Peat Types
==Natural Generation== <!--T:1-->
There is only one type of peat block that currently exists. You can find deposits of peat in deposits scattered throughout the world bsaed on climate and other factors.

<!--T:9-->
Peat is a terrain block variant created during world generation. You may notice them on the map as semi-circular spots of a slightly different color from surrounding grass. The deposits are disc-shaped and that disc follows surface deformations. The thickness of the disc can vary between 2 and 4 blocks. Peat deposits appear in temperate regions where rainfalls are at least common. They do not appear where is is cold or where it is hot. The grass coverage (grass variant) indicates the climate conditions in the area. If you are in the right region, the peat deposits are 2.5 times more frequent than blue clay deposits.

=== Grass Variants === <!--T:3-->
Peat blocks has grass coverage variants and may appear as "bare peat" with a brown top (no grass), or a green top surface, aka "grass block". Depending on climactic conditions, grass coverage appears sparse (patchy brown and green) on peat blocks. Tall grass may also grow/spawn on "grass" blocks.

Harvesting
<!--T:14-->
Peat blocks may be removed by breaking (left click) with your bare hands or using any tool, though a shovel is a faster method to harvest peat blocks. When broken, peat blocks drop 1-3 peat bricks, which stack to 32 and may be carried in player inventory, stored in stationary containers or stored in stacks of 32 on solid surfaces. Peat blocks may NOT be harvested intact and replaced elsewhere.

Peat bricks are used for fuel. For more information on fuel, see the fuel guide.

Peat blocks cannot be obtained through normal survival gameplay.

== Usage == <!--T:5-->

<!--T:16-->
Peat blocks cannot be directly used. peat brick can be used for fuel.
