Natural Generation

In addition to trees, bushes, edible plants and flowers, there are plants that spawn in the world including wild vines, ferns, and water lily pads.

Propagation

These plants cannot be propagated by players, but must be collected when exploring.

Table: Plants

Tallfern.pngFern - A leafy shrub that exists in warm, wet climates.
Waterlily.pngWaterlily - A lilypad found in lakes.
Wildvine-section.pngWild Vine- A hanging plant that dangles from trees in warm, wet climates.
Barrelcactus.pngBarrel Cactus - A small desert plant.

Harvesting

Most plants can be picked up with an empty hand using left mouse button to break the plant. To harvest ferns, use a knife or scythe, as breaking the fern with an empty hand destroys the plant.

Usage

Most of these plants are purely decorative as of game version 1.11 and may be placed on blocks in the world. Ferns and cacti may be replanted in any soil type, water lilies may be placed on water blocks and vines may be placed on the sides of solid blocks. Bees do not consider these plants to be food sources.

Fuel

Many plant items including vines and ferns can be used as fuel and will burn for different lengths of time, depending on the plant type.

Crafting

Wild vine can be used as an alternative method to create rope in the crafting grid.
