Meat is a type of food item that is obtained by hunting animals in Vintage Story. Meats generally must be cooked or process before they can be consumed. They grant protein satiety when eaten.
Obtaining
There are four types of meat that can be obtained in Vintage Story.
- Poultry is meat from birds, namely chickens
- Red meat is meat from most common, passive creatures, such as pigs, sheep and hares
- Bush meat is meat from aggressive or semi-aggressive creatures, such as wolves, bears and foxes
- Fish meat or fish is currently only obtainable from salmon (as of version 1.18.0-pre7)
Usage
All meats can be cooked in a firepit to create cooked meat, which can be eaten for protein satiety. Notably, this is the only way that bush meat can be cooked.
Red meat, poultry and fish can also be used as part of cooking recipes to create meat stew, or as an optional ingredient in soup. Red meat and poultry can also be used for creating meat pie.
All four kinds of meat can be combined with salt in a barrel to create cured meat, which is a way to preserve it.
