There are various gemstones throughout Vintage Story, some of which can be used directly in crafting. Gemstones are special minerals that can be put into a Bloomery to form Glass.

Quartz is a very common mineral that can be found in large deposits at nearly all heights. It sometimes houses Gold and Silver, and is used in the creation of both Lanterns and Glass. While Mining quartz ore blocks, players will receive Quartz Chunks as well as a few bits of Clear Quartz. The latter can be used to craft Quartz Glass and Lanterns without the need to smelt the bits in a bloomery, unlike the Quartz Chunks which can only be processed into clear glass through smelting.

Quartz is found in almost every rock type except Bauxite, Kimberlite, Suevite, and Marble.

Olivine

Olivine is a mineral primarily found underground and is used in the creation of Green Glass.

Olivine is only found in Peridotite.

Gems

Gems do not currently have a use outside of Trading.
