To seal the crock for long-term storage, place the filled crock into the crafting grid with a lump of fat. The crock may be used to transport food items in a player's inventory. To remove items from the crock, place the crock on a solid block and right click the crock with an empty bowl to remove a portion of food from the crock. If this action is performed on a sealed crock, the seal will be removed.

Portable containers add additional player inventory slots. To expand your inventory, place containers in the four container slots located on the right side of the hotbar slots, and include basket shadows. The additional inventory slots provided by each container will appear to the left of the crafting grid in the order in which the containers are placed in the container slots. You can place different types of portable containers in different container slots. Filled skeps are also transported in container slots. (See [[beekeeping]] for information on transporting filled skeps.)
