When a breaking a populated hive or skep, there is a chance that an angry swarm of bees will chase the player until they despawn (two minutes). Unfortunately you cannot defend yourself against aggressive bees making escape the only option.

When angered, Bees will attack anything nearby. Placing a decoy straw dummy near your apiary provides an alternative target for angry bees.
