Bees are mobs that reside inside their hives (natural generation) or skeps (Player created) until disturbed. When a breaking a populated hive or skep, there is a chance that an angry swarm of bees will chase the player until they despawn (two minutes). Unfortunately you cannot defend yourself against aggressive bees making escape the only option.
