Anego Studios is an independant game developer originally based in Latvia, with international contributors. Founded on February 1, 2016 by Tyron Madlener, the studio is known for Vintage Story, first released publicly in September 2016[2].

History

Tyron Madlener and Irena Madlener (AKA Saraty) were both extremely fond of the survival game genre, most notably Minecraft which they played together for several years. Growing disappointed with the direction the game was taking, they created the mod Butterfly Mania in November 2014 in an effort to liven up the game world they grew to enjoy so much. This interest in modding the game lead to the creation of Vintagecraft in March 2015, a total conversion mod for Minecraft that altered the terrain generation, added a multitude of new blocks, introduced a new crafting system and slowed the general game progression. Such a large project, however, made them keenly aware of the limitations of that game's modding API.

Later in 2015, Tyron was hired by Hypixel Studios[3] to work on Hytale, but quickly discovered that the games' vision was not what he had originally suspected. This was the catalyst which eventually led him to leave Hypixel Studios and found Anego Studios in February 2016, there to being the development of Vintage Story with the goal of creating a standalone game, fully realising the concepts underlying Vintagecraft.
