Visually, the sign can be placed to aid the player in marking locations or rooms. In order to write upon it, the player needs a source pigment, which can be either Charcoal, black coal, cinnabar or a loose stone of limestone or chalk. The item is consumed after a specific number of letters and different source pigments make for differently coloured text.
