Onions can grow in temperatures from -1 to 40°C. They require 1.85 months (16.7 days) to grow at default 9 day per month settings, and go through 7 growth stages. Onions use up 35% P nutrition (Phosphorus) from their farm plot. Break the crop using left mouse button with an empty hand, a {{ll|knife|knife}} or a {{ll|scythe|scythe}} to harvest. When fully mature, crops yield multiple onions and at least one seed when harvested. Harvesting immature plants yields fewer onions and may not provide a seed.
Onion crops tolerate temperatures -1 to 40°C, but only grow when above 0°C. If the temperature drops below -1°C or exceeds 40°C, the onion crop will become {{pll|Temperature#Effect_on_plants|stunted}} and begin to accumulate damage. Stunted onion crops will yield 50% of normal when harvested.
