Wattle and daub is a building method in which a woven lattice of wooden strips called "wattle" is "daubed" with a sticky material.

Brick red book

In-game Handbook entry

"Wattle and daub is made by applying raw daub to a placed wattle fence block. After the initial ten daub to create the block, you can apply up to two more raw daub to create a totally smooth wattle and daub block."

Usage

After wattle and daub are individually crafted, a block of wattle and daub is created in-world by Right mouse button with at least 10 pieces of daub on a block of wattle fence. Extra daub increases the uniformity of the block's color.
The block is immediately useful as building material (no drying time required). It can be quickly "mined" by hand and relocated.

History

  • The first mention of wattle and daub was 14 July 2024: "Hardened clay removed from recipes and moved to legacy folder (replaced by wattle & daub)"[1]
  • 13 Dec 2024 4 more colors (green, orange, pink, yellow) were added, with additional tweaks: "All daubs can now use any clay. Re-shuffled the sand required for each. Some daubs now have both a grid and a dye recipe (blue and pink are dye-only)"[2]
