Wattle and daub is a building block created by placing a woven stick fence known as “wattle ” and applying an adhesive material known as “daub .”

Wattle is crafted using sticks and any knife .

Different combinations of sand and clay will produce different colors of daub. Some colors can be made by combining a daub of a specific base color with dye in a barrel .

Construction

After placing a wattle fence block, press while holding 6 pieces of daub to apply an initial layer, converting the wattle into a wattle and daub block. 1 piece of daub can optionally be applied 2 more times to increase its smoothness.

Usage

Wattle and daub is a solid, non-flammable block that can be used in player-built structures. Unlike other clay -based blocks such as ceramic blocks , wattle and daub does not require firing.

History

Version		Description
1.20.0	pre.1	Wattle fence, raw daub, and wattle and daub blocks were introduced as a replacement for hardened clay.
	rc.2	4 additional daub colors were added: green, orange, pink, and yellow. The sand required for crafting each daub variant was reshuffled. Some daubs now have both a grid and a dye recipe.
1.21.0	pre.1	The stack size of daub was increased to 128. The crafting recipe output for daub was reduced from 12 to 8. A complete wattle and daub block now requires 8 daub instead of 10.

Notes

• Wattle and daub was introduced as a replacement for hardened clay, which had only 4 variants corresponding to the original clay types: blue, red, brown, and fireclay. Hardened clay has since been renamed to “ceramic ” and converted into a legacy block—its crafting method was removed, and it is now only available in the Creative inventory.
