Spears are weapons used in melee and ranged combat. They are available starting in the Stone Age. Copper and bronze variants can be created with smithing. Gold and silver spears can be purchased from Luxuries traders. The Clockmaker has the ability to create a special tuning spear which can be used to turn a locust into an ally.
Throwing a spear increases the amount of damage dealt.
Spears are flexible, being both melee and projectile weapons, but have low durability and can take up inventory space due to not stacking together. Compared to the falx, spears deal less damage in melee combat, but have a longer range and deal more damage when thrown.
Obtaining
Trading
Bronze spears may be purchased from Survival goods traders.
Ornate gold and silver spears must be purchased from Luxuries traders.
Crafting
Spears are crafted from a spear head created by knapping stone or smithing metal. The scrap spear can be obtained randomly when using a scrap weapon kit.
Ornate gold and silver spears cannot be crafted.

Usage
- Main article: Combat
The spear can be used to attack enemies in melee combat. It has a longer range than other melee weapons.
Spears can be thrown for ranged combat. Usage can be broken down into three steps:
- Charging the spear: Hold the right mouse button to ready the spear. Corners of a white square will appear while the button is held, indicating precision. They will quickly shrink to a small area on the screen, and then slowly move in and out. The smaller the square, the more accurate the shot. Moving will reduce accuracy based on the speed of movement.
- Aiming the spear: Aim the white crosshairs at the selected target and account for falloff due to gravity.
- Firing the spear: Release the mouse button to fire (loose) the arrow.
Storage
Spears may be placed in tool racks or placed on the ground. Spears do not stack in inventories.
