Omok is a 2-player board game played with a 15x15 square table board and 2 sets of colored pieces. There are three types of pieces available: lead, gold, and copper. Copper pieces cannot currently be obtained (see History).

Obtaining

The Omok table top can either be found in ruins , or purchased from a treasure hunter trader for 7.5 - 12.5* rusty gears . It may be sold to a luxuries trader for 3 - 5* gears.

The lead and gold Omok pieces can be found in ruins, or purchased from a luxuries trader . Lead pieces cost 1.5 - 2.5* rusty gears for 30. Gold pieces cost 6.75 - 11.25* for 30. Copper Omok pieces can't currently be obtained in-game, except from the creative menu (see History).

Usage

In this game, the player with the lead pieces won by aligning 5 pieces vertically.

The Omok table top is placed on a block or on the ground and the two players are placed face to face. Each player holds the same number of Omok pieces (30 or more) of one variety. Players decide who will start and take turns placing a piece anywhere on the table top. A player wins when they have succeeded in aligning 5 pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Pieces may also be removed from the board with an empty hand.

Omok pieces may be smelted in a crucible to recover the metal. Each piece is worth 5 units, requiring 20 pieces to obtain one ingot .

Tip:
Omok pieces cannot be recovered after melting them down!

History

  • According to the changelog, Luxuries traders were supposed to sell copper Omok pieces instead of gold starting in v1.21.0, but this change was accidentally left out and is still missing as of v1.21.5.
