Door
This page was last verified for Vintage Story version 1.21.4.
Doors are easily accessible entrances to rooms, only needing to be
opened or closed
to allow or prevent access by players, animals, or other hostile creatures. Sealing a room with a door instead of leaving it open to the air provides benefits such as reducing food spoiling speed and protecting the player from the dangers of harsh winters. They offer a quick and easy way of accessing the player's home, cellar, greenhouse, or other structures. Some specific doors are required for specialized structures, such as the cementation furnace for steel making and the beehive kiln for firing ceramics. A set of two doors placed next to each other will open and close together as a pair.
When creating a room, both sides of a door count as being solid. For example, when creating a 7x7 room to use as a cellar, placing a door on the outside of a gap in the wall (inside the 8th block) will still create a cellar.
Locking
Doors can be reinforced, then locked with a padlock to prevent other players from opening or closing them without permission.
Tip:
When locking double doors, both doors must be locked individually. |
Craftable Doors
Crude door
Crude doors are the only door the player can create during the stone age, as they do not require a saw to make boards. Crude doors cannot seal, preventing the player from gaining the benefits of a room. A crude door has an 8% chance of falling off its hinges when used, causing it to drop onto the ground as an item.
