Obtaining
Cabbages do not grow in the wild.[3] Cabbage seeds can only be purchased from an agricultural trader,[4] or found in a cracked vessel,[5] which may be found in ruins above or below ground. 5-7 cabbage seeds can sometimes be found in a Cracked vessel (seed). 2-4 cabbage seeds can sometimes be found in a Cracked vessel (farming).
Cultivation

Cabbage crops tolerate temperatures -5°C to 35°C.[6] If the temperature drops below -5°C or exceeds 35°C, the cabbage crop will become “stunted” and begin to accumulate damage. Stunted cabbage crops will yield 50% of normal when harvested. If they accumulate enough damage to die from excessive cold or heat, cabbage crops will yield 50% of normal when harvested[7] but the player is guaranteed 1 seed no matter the growth stage.[8]
Cabbage crops consume 40[9] N (nitrogen) from the soil over 12 stages[10] of growth. During stages 2-11, cabbage crops feed bees and butterflies.[11] Cabbage crops take 1.5 months[12] to mature, (14 days at default settings, assuming a growth rate near 100%. Low moisture or nutrient levels can significantly delay maturation.
Cabbages can be harvested by breaking the crop, no tool necessary. Each block of mature cabbage crops will yield 2 cabbages[13] and 1-2 seed packets. Harvesting at stage 11 has an 85% chance of getting 1 cabbage[14] and a 99% chance of getting 1 seed packet. Harvesting before stage 11 has a 0% chance of getting any cabbages, and a 70% chance of getting 1 seed packet.
Usage
When eaten raw, a cabbage provides 300 vegetable satiety, which is three times more than most vegetables.[15]
Cabbages may used as a vegetable cooking ingredient in stews, soups, porridges, and pies.
Storage
Like all food, cabbages benefit from storage in a cellar, and tend to benefit from storage in containers during cool weather. A clay Storage Vessel is the best container for cabbages, due to its property of reducing perish rates for vegetables. Cabbages may be preserved via pickling, and benefit from storage in a cellar.
