Bamboo is a type of tree that grows in warm or hot climates with medium to heavy rainfall. Bamboo trees come in two varieties, green or brown. Aside from their appearance, they can be used interchangeably.

Obtaining

Bamboo grows wild in warm and hot climates with medium to heavy rainfall. Green bamboo grows in hotter climates than brown bamboo (roughly 34 to 40 °C versus 25 to 35 °C). Both types behave identically.

Each grown bamboo tree is made up of three stacked segments. Chopping a bamboo segment with an axe drops one Bundle of bamboo stakes . The upper two segments also have a small (around 8%) chance to drop a bamboo sapling , and breaking the bamboo leaves yields the same sapling drop at roughly the same rate.

Propagation

Bamboo can be planted from a sapling. A planted bamboo sapling grows over time into a full three-segment bamboo tree of the matching color (green or brown). Young bamboo shoots are also found near established bamboo and can be harvested with a knife to produce a food item (see Edible Bamboo Shoots below).

Chopped bamboo segments yield bundles of bamboo stakes, which are used to craft:

• Simple fishing pole (bamboo)
• Bamboo raft
• Bamboo cone hat

Bamboo saplings themselves are also a crafting ingredient for two clothing items:

• Bamboo sapling bracelet
• Bamboo shoot amulet

Edible Bamboo Shoots

Bamboo shoots (the growing-stage plant block) can be cut with a knife to produce edible bamboo shoots. Each edible bamboo shoot grants 100 satiety and provides no nutritional category. The food perishes after roughly 96 in-game hours.
