Purchasing

Axes can be purchased from Survival Goods traders :

Usage

The axe is most efficient when used to break wood blocks such as trees , logs, planks , fences, gates, and items including wooden building components.

Harvesting

Breaking a tree with an axe will break many blocks at once. The targeted block will take a long time to break. When it does break, the tree above will break with it. The max number of blocks it breaks is limited by the remaining durability of the axe. Cutting the whole tree at once still applies the same amount of damage to the axe as if each block were broken individually.

Tree felling time is also based on wood type. Hardwoods take 30% longer while tropical hardwoods take even longer.

Purpleheart requires at least a copper/scrap axe to fell; ebony requires at least a bronze axe.

Tip:
Cutting the whole tree is much faster if all leaves are broken first! This also drops many more tree seeds and sticks.

Crafting

Firewood is crafted using the axe. When the axe is being used as a crafting tool, each time the recipe is crafted, the tool will lose durability.

Selling

Crafted axes can be sold to Building Materials Traders . They purchase sometimes:

Storage

Axes can be placed against a wall, stored in containers , and placed on tool racks .
